L.F. Markey presents System T, by Emma Cogné
This September, during London Design Festival, L.F. Markey presents System T, a solo exhibition by French-born, Belgium-based artist Emma Cogné at the brand's Dalston flagship store.
Bringing architecture and textile into dialogue, Cogné brings visibility to construction materials that are usually concealed within walls, reimagining them through weaving, colour and repetition. Industrial components become intricate spatial interventions, transforming the functional into the ornamental.
A custom-made chain curtain becomes a living painting, assembled link by link into cascading forms. A wall hanging woven from hairpins casts delicate graphic shadows across the space. Monumental woven partitions made from industrial fabrics animate the store windows, their bold zig-zag compositions filtering light and creating shifting divisions between inside and outside.
By elevating overlooked materials, Cogné challenges conventional ideas of value, beauty and standardisation. Her work preserves the intrinsic qualities of each material while opening up new ways of relating to the everyday. Through weaving— a practice rooted in care, repetition, and the passing of knowledge from hand to hand — she explores the boundaries between public and private, ornamental and utilitarian, architecture and textile.
"Emma Cogné's work has a remarkable ability to transform a space through colour, rhythm and scale. These striking suspended pieces create both structure and softness within the store, inviting visitors to move through the exhibition in a completely new way. We're delighted to share Emma's work at L.F.Markey during London Design Week.”
Please join us on the opening date of the London Design Festival when we invite you to meet the artist and celebrate her work with us.
